Zara operates two fashion stores in Amsterdam’s city centre: Kalverstraat 66-72 (6,429 m²) and Nieuwendijk 196 (3,883.6 m²). Both locations carry the Woman, Man, Kids, and Beauty collections.
The Kalverstraat store is about 65.5% larger than the Nieuwendijk branch, making it the more spacious option, while Nieuwendijk (opened in 2015) is also regarded as a flagship store.
There is also a separate Zara Home at Van Baerlestraat 25 in the Museum Quarter.
Shopping Tips for Zara in Amsterdam
- Fresh stock timing: Many Zara stores receive new deliveries on Mondays and Thursdays (exact timing varies by location). Late morning to early afternoon on those days often catches new drops without peak crowds.
- Beat the crowds: Kalverstraat and Nieuwendijk are busy pedestrian streets. Thursday is “koopavond” (late opening), so evenings tend to be busier – go earlier in the day for a calmer shop.
- Sale racks: Start at the back. Higher-priced items are frequently placed up front (practical tip, not a hard rule).
- VAT (tax-free) for non-EU visitors: Keep your tax-free form + original receipt (ask for the form at checkout, as a receipt alone isn’t enough). You can claim Dutch VAT if you live outside the EU, your purchases are at least €50 per shop on the same day. At Schiphol Airport, get your customs stamp and then submit to Global Blue / Planet / Innova desks or mailboxes.
